• Photobook-David Plummer-7 Years of Camera Shake: One Man’s Passion for Photographing Wildlife Hardback Size: 26.4 x 29.6 cm Pages: 256 Published: 2017 Publisher: Unbound Stock number: RG1633/0124 Price: £30 + P & P As humans, we are drawn to predators like no other group of animals. They are the epitome of form and function, and have a level of perfection that we revere. In 2009, wildlife expert, conservationist and photographer David Plummer was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Rather than let it defeat him, he was galvanised to grab life by the horns and achieve the perfect wildlife shot. Over the next seven years, he did much more than that. The result is this breathtaking collection of over 200 of his best and favourite photographs of exotic and wild animals in their natural habitats. To capture them, David travelled to some of the most remote and stunning locations across the world, from Africa to India to the Galápagos Islands and back to his native England. 7 Years of Camera Shake showcases seven years of immersive and illuminating photography: of predators on the prowl, of prey in the clutches of death, of the inexplicable synchronisation of nature, of the beautiful relationship between mother and child, and much, much more. Plummer’s work has been featured in wildlife publications and national and international press, and now the work he has produced since his diagnosis is showcased here, accompanied by his thoughts and anecdotes on how he achieved each perfect shot. Book in very good condition, dust jacket slightly worn top and bottom.

  • Photobook-Édouard Boubat-A Gentle Eye Hardback Pages: 368 Size: 29.5 x 31.5 cm Published: 2004 Publisher: Thames & Hudson Stock number: RG1651/0124 Price: £225 + P&P In a career that spanned more than fifty years, photographer Edouard Boubat (1923-1999) captured the magic of fleeting moments with tenderness and warmth. A contemporary of Robert Doisneau and one of the most influential French photographers of the 20th century, Boubat made elegant, poetic pictures, beginning with images of everyday life in his native city of Paris and moving on to striking pictures taken on his travels to Kenya, India, Spain, Portugal, Brazil and China. His photographs were the subject of a major exhibition at the Centre Georges Pompidou in 1976, the same year he published the first major book on his work. Now, five years after his death, this luxurious volume presents the entire range of Boubat's work in 300 beautiful tritone reproductions. All of his most famous photographs are here - including those of his muse, Lella - along with texts on the artist by writers Michel Tournier, Jacques Prevert and Marguerite Duras, and Boubat's own writings and notebook excerpts. Developed in close collaboration with Boubat's son, Bernard, this authoritative collection is the only existing monograph on this enduringly popular, but until now strangely unsung, photographer. The photobook is in good condition but the dust jacket shows some wear and plastic covering is starting to peel in the bottom right of the front cover.

  • Photobook-Joel Meyerowitz-Aftermath, World Trade Center Archive Hardback Pages: 350 Size: 29.2 x 39.4 cm Published: 2006 Publisher: Phaidon Press Stock number: RG2093/0124 Price: £35 + P&P After the destruction of the World Trade Center in New York on September 11th 2001, the world-renowned photographer Joel Meyerowitz felt compelled to visit the site, to document and record the aftermath of the largest ever attack on US soil. Although initially turned away by police (on the grounds that the site was a crime scene and could not be photographed), Meyerowitz was determined to gain access to the area. Within days he had established strong links with many of the firefighters, policemen and construction workers contributing to the clean up. With their assistance he became the only photographer to be granted unimpeded access to Ground Zero. Once there he systematically began to document the wreckage followed by the necessary demolition, excavation and removal of tens of thousands of tonnes of debris that would transform the site from one of total devastation to level ground. Soon after the Museum of the City of New York officially engaged Meyerowitz to create an archive of the destruction and recovery at Ground Zero and the immediate neighborhood. The 9/11 Photographic Archive numbers in excess of 5,000 images and will become part of the permanent collections of the Museum of the City of New York. In good condition and still with its original plastic covering. Small bang on base of spine.
  • Photobook-Keegan Allen-life. love. beauty Hardback Pages: 304 Size: 23.5 x 19 cm Published: 2015 Publisher: St Martins Press Stock number: RG1661/0124 Price: £8 + P&P Keegan Allen is the international breakout star of MTV's hit television series, Pretty Little Liars. A gifted photographer and writer-and a dazzling film, television, and stage actor now counting millions of fans across the globe-Keegan Allen brings tremendous talent and energy to his first publishing project. Keegan tells a unique story with his photographs. On one hand, the book is a beautifully candid view into the glamour and timelessness of Hollywood, a mysterious yet wildly alluring place. One the other hand, it is a blissfully unassuming portrait of ordinary life- the unknown young woman gazing dreamily from the balcony of her hotel room, or the old woman who walks the same street every morning in her pink bathrobe, just to stop and talk to a passerby. Through his own stunning photography and captivating prose and poetry, life. love. beauty. chronicles the author's life growing up just off the Sunset Strip, coming into his own as a young aspiring actor, looking for love and understanding, negotiating the seductions and disappointments of Hollywood, landing a plum role in a hit television series, encountering and embracing his fans, travelling the globe to promote his work, and striving to stay connected to his closest friends and loved ones.
  • Photobook-Linda McCartney-Light from within Hardback Pages: 183 Size: 27.5 x 21.5 cm Published: 2001 Publisher: Little, Brown & Company Stock number: RG1636/0124 Price: £30 + P&P Although in a sense a retrospective of Linda McCartney's photographic work, this book is not a compilation made in retrospect but a book she intended to make and worked toward over a long period of time. The photographs featured form a document of 30 years of Linda's life. They range from intimate but expressive observations of her close family to her own brand of spontaneous surrealism; perceptive portraits mingle with witty juxtapositions of compositional elements. An over-riding factor binds together the rich variety of her imagery - it was consistently mediated through the sensibility of a photographer with a special human warmth. The book includes four haikus, published here for the first time, which Linda completed just days before she passed away. She had intended to write three further haikus, but apart from the title, taken from the lyrics of one of her own songs, the contents, both pictures and words were finalized in her lifetime. Good condition throughout. Signed by owner on inside page.

  • Photobook-Michael Kenna-Japan: A Love Story (Signed) Hardback Pages: 134 Size: 33 x 25.4 cm Published: 2024 Publisher: NAZRAELI Stock number: RG2298/GNO1 Price: £70 + P&P Published to coincide with a major 2024 traveling exhibition in Tokyo, Los Angeles and London, this gorgeous new monograph presents 100 of Michael Kenna’s most iconic photographs of the Japanese landscape, many published here for the first time. A perfect pairing of artist and subject, these photographs of Japan comprise perhaps Kenna’s best known body of work and have been the subject of countless exhibitions throughout the world. Michael Kenna first visited Japan in 1987 on the event of his inaugural exhibition there, and he has returned dozens of time and made thousands of photographs throughout the country’s vast and incredibly varied landscape. Our earlier monographs Japan and Hokkaido have been out of print for many years, so we are thrilled to announce this important new publication that includes work spanning Kenna’s decades-long love affair with the country. Japan / A Love Story is beautifully printed in duotone on natural coated art paper and quarter bound in linen and silk. It opens with an essay in Japanese and English by the renowned critic and historian Kohtaro Iizawa. “For Michael Kenna’s 2003 publication, Japan, I contributed an essay suggesting that his photographs could be read as visual haikus. Looking at the work in this new book, perhaps the definitive collection of Kenna’s Japan photographs, I feel that these same components are still there. And yet, on viewing his work afresh, I realize that while he does incorporate a Japanese sense of beauty and perspective, he has now fused his own Western aesthetic with a new Eastern sensibility, awakened by his visual experiences in Japan.” — From the Introduction by Kohtaro Iizawa “Japan has a long and rich tradition of reciprocal gift giving. I have been the grateful recipient of so much over so many years in Japan, and I know that I will never be able to give back in equal measure. I hope this work can be seen as a small token of my desire to do so. I also hope this work can be viewed as a homage to Japan and that it will serve to symbolize my immense ongoing appreciation and deep gratitude for this beautiful and mysterious country.” — From the Afterword by Michael Kenna

With the original foreword by Mary Ellen Mark. Raised on an isolated farm in southern Iceland, Ragnar Axelsson (born 1958) became captivated early on by the brutal beauty of the North Atlantic and the delicate interactions between its inhabitants and their environment. Long out of print, Faces of the North is now republished with this small edition. In the 2004 edition of Faces of the North, Axelsson collected the images of farmers, hunters, and fishermen in the Arctic and the Atlantic that he became best known for.

  • Photobook-Robert Frank-story lines Softback Pages: 144 Size: 24.5 x 28.5 cm Published: 2004 Publisher: Steidl Publishers, Germany Stock number: RG2089/0124 Price: £45 + P&P "Robert Frank is one of the most influential of all post-war photographers. Pioneering a revolutionary approach to photography and filmmaking, he combines autobiographical and poetic elements to produce straight black and white images that transcend the specific. Speaking of universal experience, 'I'm trying to forget easy photo, trying to make something from within,' he has said, 'time moves on and never stops or waits.' Often involving a progression through a series of images, his work is structured like a musical sequence, creating storylines that resonate beyond the frozen moment of any single photograph. Storylines accompanied an exhibition highlighting Frank's experimental use of narrative in photography and film. The exhibition included work from films and photographs (including Polaroids, contact sheets and recent digital stills) and several artist's books. The photographs are from locations as distant as Peru, London, Wales, Coney Island and Chicago." This book was produced to accompany the exhibition held at the Tate Modern, 28 October 2004 – 23 January 2005.

Uncommon Places: The Complete Works is the definitive collection of this landmark series. An essay by noted critic and curator Stephan Schmidt-Wulffen and a conversation with Shore by fiction writer Lynne Tillman examine his methodology as they elucidate his roots in the pop and conceptual art movements of the late sixties and early seventies. The texts are illustrated with reproductions from Shore’s earlier series American Surfaces and Amarillo: Tall in Texas.
